Activities and Tours in the Santa Teresa and Mal Pais Area
Vajra Sol retreats are by many standards the essence of adventure – ‘an exciting or very unique experience where the participant goes beyond his/her typical boundaries’ – through experiencing new activities like surfing or going deeper and more personal, through a self inquiry process. Practice yoga in a tropical paradise with highly skilled instructors, learn to surf or stand up paddle and spend time on one of the most stunning beaches in the world. The perfect balance of exercise and deep relaxation to make you feel terrific and a blissful sense of Self.
Before or after your retreat, if you are looking for even more, nearby there are jungle tours, scuba diving, zip lining, horseback riding, kayaking, ocean fishing and ATV tours.
Canopy Tour / Zip-Lining
Propel yourself through the canopy of the tropical forest on a thrilling zip-line. We partner with reliable tour companies who guide on a tour to sail from one platform to another as you take in the views from a monkey’s perspective, the tree tops. When you are this high up you can see the forest in an entirely new way. For those travelers visiting other parts of Costa Rica, like Monteverde cloud forest and Arenal Volcano, there are even walkways in the canopy for people who are a little shy of ‘flying.’
Horseback Riding
Take a guided horseback riding tour along the beach and through the very scenic countryside of rolling hills and incredible views of the coastline. No riding experience is needed; your gentle horse and guide will lead the way and leave you with a memorable and fun experience of exploring the Nicoya Peninsula by horseback.
ATV Sight-Seeing Tour
The four-wheel ATVs are easy to drive and an exciting way to tour the area. Cruise the coastline from Manzanillo to Montezuma where you can stop off to visit the waterfall and take a swim in the pool at the base of the falls. This tour can either be guided or you can take a map and go on your own.
Ocean Fishing
Close to Santa Teresa we can help you arrange an ocean fishing excursion. The coastal waters here are home to many Yellow-fin Tuna, Mackerel and Mahi-Mahi. As you travel into deep sea waters you are likely to find Sailfish and possibly some Marlin. Local captains have been fishing here since childhood know the best spots and offer English speaking guides.
Scuba Diving or Snorkeling
Our local dive and snorkeling sites are in the Gulf of Nicoya by Tortuga Island and offer an opportunity to see giant schools of grunt, yellow tails, spotted eagle rays, turtles, stingrays, angel fish, octopus, sea horses, starfish, frog fish and many species of eels. You can arrange to have one or two tank dives and the water temperatures are always between 80-87 Fahrenheit. The snorkeling tour includes a picnic lunch on the island. This is a full day tour from Santa Teresa.
