How do I get to the retreat destination?

The nearest airport to Ojai is Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) which is about a 75-minute drive (34 miles away) and Los Angeles (LAX) is a 90-minute drive (60 miles).

To travel to Ojai it is recommended to arrive by car. If you are open to ride-sharing (as driver or passenger) please let us know when you sign up for the retreat.

After signing up for the retreat you’ll receive more details about getting to the property.

What is the yoga like?

The morning classes will be a mix of conditioning movements and vinyasa flow to revitalize one’s energy, enhance flexibility and mobility, and build strength.

Afternoon classes will be restorative yoga, meditation, breathwork, and other non-asana practices.

Each class is specifically sequenced around a theme based on the Hatha and Tantra traditions.

Classes are structured so that participants may learn and advance their practice. All levels of yoga experience are welcome, from beginners to more seasoned practitioners.

What is the plan for meals?

Daily brunches are included; other meals are not included. For dinners, we will have a more casual style and that is, we will coordinate group dinners together. This can be eating at a restaurant in town, ordering in, picnics, and having fun preparing a delicious, wholesome meal together. Guests are free to use the property’s kitchen or visit one of the fabulous cafes and restaurants in town. The house kitchen is stocked with a chef’s dream amenities! Closer to the retreat date we will share ideas to organize before arrival.

What is there to do in Ojai in the free time?

Ojai town is full of farm-fresh dining opinions, art galleries, premium boutiques and shopping, and local wine tastings. Visit the farmer’s market or pamper yourself with a spa treatment.

There is an array of activities to do in the surrounding mountains. Explore the outdoors hiking in the Los Padres National Forest, mountain or e-biking, horseback riding, and on a sight-seeing adventure Jeep Tour along winding country roads with stunning vistas.

The Krishnamurti Educational Center is worth a visit in the mountains above Ojai. It was once the home of the yogi philosopher and author J. Krishnamurti.

We will plan outings and activities together or explore on your own. There is plenty to see and do in the area. As well, the beauty of the retreat setting welcomes you stay and enjoy leisurely time around the pool or gardens.

What is the climate like in Ojai?

Ojai Valley has a Mediterranean climate; hot, dry summers and a cool, crisp winter season. September is an ideal month to visit when temperatures average 84° F / 55° F. A year-round paradise, Ojai is an idyllic place to visit if you are looking to recenter and unwind in a peaceful, nature setting.

What is the group size for the retreat?

Due to the exclusivity of the property where the retreat is held, the number of participants is limited to 12 persons. There are two single rooms and five double rooms available. All rooms must be booked with a minimum of 10 persons for the retreat to be confirmed.

What is the payment and cancellation policy?

A non-refundable US $1,800 deposit is required to confirm participation in the retreat.

Should you need to cancel your reservation at any time, for whatever reason, no refund or credit can be provided unless a replacement is found. If a replacement is found your payment can be refunded less $150 fee or 100% of your payment can be used as a credit to another retreat within one year. No refund will be given for arriving late or departing the retreat early or for meals/activities in which one does not participate.

In the unlikely event Vajra Sol needs to cancel the retreat for a non-force majeure reason, a full refund will be given.

If force majeure (e.g. pandemic, natural disaster, government travel restrictions, etc.) causes a retreat to be canceled we will offer alternative dates to reschedule the retreat within one year. In this case, there is no refund of payments when a retreat cannot be held due to causes beyond our control.

Should I buy trip insurance for the retreat?

Purchasing trip insurance is recommended for coverage of any unplanned changes that may occur before or during your trip, such as trip cancelation, delayed flights, lost luggage, emergency medical assistance, and more.

Every detail was taken care of – Great combination of yoga, touring, wonderful food and accommodations and plenty of extras! First trip and likely not the last!

Mark, Idaho

The planning for our adventures was exhaustive & flawless while the yoga was threaded into every moment. Sandra teaches that yoga is not just about the asana or what you do on your mat. It’s a way of life worth living with others. As for the accommodations, food & service – everything was top notch.

Christina, Labrador, Canada

This was my third retreat with Sandra, I have been to Costa Rica twice and enjoyed my retreats so much there. I again traveled solo to this retreat and felt safe and confident the entire time. If you’re looking for a superbly organized adventure, mixed with spirituality and fun then do yourself a favour and go on retreat with Vajra Sol!
