As part of our Costa Rica Yoga Retreat, Stand Up Paddling (SUP) is included for those who seek to be active and out on the water with breath-taking views of the southern Nicoya Peninsula.
SUP has become the most popular emerging water sport today due to its accessibility for anyone who wants to try, its ease to learn and the fun and work-out that results. SUP and Yoga are a perfect match from the physical overall body conditioning to improved balance and mental clarity to the profound sense of spiritual connection with the elements of Mother Nature.
The SUP Yoga Retreat includes three half-day SUP outings to different locations around the Santa Teresa/Mal Pais area. These include paddling along an estuary through mangroves and out in the ocean. The time of the outings may vary each day depending on the tides and general conditions. Two days during the retreat we do not SUP. For those who want to participate there are a number of different tours offered in the area. Or just take the time to relax.
The SUP instructors are experienced, professional and will ensure you have a safe and fun time out on the water. They are locals to the area and know well how to read the water and where best to guide you.
The first SUP session is focused on learning the basic skills and safety. The learning curve is high and no previous experience is needed. Be out on the board gliding across the water your first day! For those more experienced and ready to take it to the next level there is option to surf waves. Water temperatures are in the low to mid 80sF so no wetsuit is needed.
