The Pure Yoga option on our Costa Rica Yoga Retreat is perfect for a deeper immersion into one's practice. Each day includes a 1.5-hour morning and afternoon yoga class. All the yoga is held for mixed levels of experience.
The morning sessions are led by Nancy (or another Vajra Sol yoga teacher) who, as part of an energizing Vinyasa Flow practice, incorporates breathing exercises (pranayama), meditation and gives opportunity to learn about chanting mantras. Nancy has a devoted following as a teacher and shares her vast and fascinating knowledge of the spiritual philosophies of yoga in her classes.
Nancy began her Yogic studies in the Ashtanga tradition under the guidance of her first teachers, Dominic Corigliano, Tim Miller, and Sri Pattabhi Jois. She completed her official Yoga Alliance Teacher training with 'Yoga Arts' and began teaching in 1998. Her teachings are infused with a myriad of elements, which come together to create a highly educational, physically challenging, and deeply soulful experience. Nancy has been practicing Yoga for 20 years and teaching for over 12 years. She teaches regular classes and workshops and is a highly revered teacher in Costa Rica.
Sandra teaches the afternoon yoga sessions when the whole retreat group comes together. Each day will focus on a different posture category and theme. Some days will be more yang with a stronger Flow and others will be more yin with a softer, introspective and restorative style with meditation and breathing exercises. In her classes Sandra creates an inspiring and nurturing environment with an emphasis on the balance between the playfulness and challenge of the practice.
